When I write music, more often than not it expresses something that is really important to me, and so the lyrics and meaning in the song say alot about me. Here's a little description of the meaning for me of each song.

Always Lose to You: I was struggling with my desire to have faith and take the risk of really reaching for what I want in my career, and feeling like whatever force is in control of my life hadn't responded and was leaving me out to dry. I wanted to argue with that inner voice, and say "forget it, I'm not doing this, it's not worth it", but I knew I would lose that argument...I always do. The only real option was to keep my head up ad keep going.

We Are the Ones (We've Been Waiting For): Inspired by Barack Obama's speech on super tuesday, 2008. there doesn't seem to be a rescue team on its way to save me, or earth for that matter. No matter how much I get pissed at life or god and beg for a change, the change always seems to come from buckling down and 'being the change', as Ghandi said.

Higher Ground: I had a dream about a tsunami. I had been curious about tsunamis ever since we visited Thailand last June, and then I had this dream that blew my mind and freaked me out. In the dream I remember the revelation, "get to higher ground!" It seems that my dreams over the past year have been filled with the metaphor of rising water.

Tied up Tied Down: Choosing my life path has been the central struggle for me for as long as I can remember. I have a deep-seated fear of ending up in a life I don't want, and it motivates me to keep trying to make this path work. I am especially aware of all the advice I get from people wanting to 'help' who don't exactly have a good track record of following their own souls advice.
