Sky has arranged the perfect package for your wedding or special event, providing a variety of music for the entire night or just for a portion of it. Based in the northern California wine country, The Sky Band is available around the San Francisco Bay Area community. Begin your event as your guests arrive with Sky's beautiful solo jazz piano, elegant and uplifting. Bringing together the diverse influences of George Winston, Dr. John, George Gershwin and Keith Jarrett, Sky weaves beautiful melodies with soulful rhythmic baselines, playing jazz and original improvisation. After the ceremony, let your guests enjoy cocktails while listening to the swinging jazz of The Sky Band. The quintet plays a broad selection of the standard songs one would expect from the jazz era (Gershwin, Porter, Nat King Cole, Rodgers and Hart, Herman Hupfeld, Johnny Mercer). You can have your entire night of music arranged yet only have to coordinate with one bandleader. Sky takes pride in the quality of music he represents and the enjoyment provided for everyone involved. The Sky Band Instrumentation: This sample timeline gives a possible scheme for the evening. We can provide music for the entire evening or for any 'a la carte' portion that you desire. 5 p.m.-5:30 p.m. Guests arrive, greeted by improvisational and jazz piano. 5:30 p.m.-6 p.m. Ceremony begins. 6 p.m.-7 p.m. Cocktail hour. The Sky Band performs jazz standards by Nat King Cole, George Gershwin, Frank Sinatra, Cole Porter, and many more. 7 p.m.-7:45 p.m. Dinner. The Sky Band continues in the background with The Beatles, Paul Simon, James Taylor, and others, as well as romantic originals by Sky Nelson. 7:45 p.m.-7:55 p.m. The First Dance. Choose from a live performance or a CD recording for your most treasured moment. 7:55 p.m.-8:15 p.m. The Sky Band continues to play while guests finish their dinner. 8:15 p.m.-11 p.m. Dancing. Sky Nelson Band shakes it down for your guests with R&B/Funk/Motown hits. Fee: Sky's fee is typical for artists in the San Francisco Bay Area.
